Recently, the Department of Electrical Automation of the School of Logistics Engineering of Shanghai Maritime University successfully cooperated with Schneider Electric (China) Investment Co., Ltd. to successfully produce a prototype of its self-developed ship power management system. It is reported that the two sides are continuing to cooperate to make this scientific research product realize productization at an early stage and enter the practical application stage.

The ship power management system can control the generation and distribution of power, ensure the safety and reliability of the power system, improve the quality of power supply and the economics of system operation, and is especially suitable for all-electric propulsion ships. It is understood that as early as 1999, Shanghai Haida Electrical Automation Department began research in this area. In 2002, they developed their own ship power management software, and successively produced digital simulation systems and physical simulation systems to realize ship power management functions, and applied them in crew training and teaching experiments. In May 2005, this research was paid close attention to by Schneider Electric (China) Investment Company. After more than half a year of hard work, the two sides cooperated to produce a prototype of the ship's power management system. Schneider Electric (China) Investment Co., Ltd. mainly provides hardware platforms including power distribution panels, main switches and other components.

According to reports, the system consists of a generator monitoring module and a touch screen. The MODBUS TCP/IP industrial Ethernet structure is adopted, in which the generator monitoring module is the core component. The system has the characteristics of streamlined hardware, powerful functions, flexible operation and so on.

At present, the relevant personnel of Shanghai Haida Electric Automation Department are making further modifications to the system according to the requirements of actual ship use. It is expected that the products will be put on the market in the second half of this year.
