The Barrington Fire Department received a call around 8:00 PM this evening reporting a fire at 340 Weatherstone Road. The alert came from a neighbor who spotted flames coming from the garage. When the first responding units arrived, they found heavy fire in the three-car garage, with flames already spreading through the roof and threatening the main house. A Box Alarm was quickly called, bringing in tankers to the non-hydranted neighborhood near Lake-Cook and Ela Roads. The fire had spread into the garage attic and parts of the second-floor attic before firefighters managed to contain it. Fortunately, both vehicles in the garage remained largely undamaged.
The first Barrington engine was stationed in the driveway, receiving water from the second engine positioned in front of the house. A porta-tank was deployed by the first engine, and the tankers ensured a steady water supply throughout the operation.
Larry Shapiro arrived at the scene after the fire had been brought under control. He captured several photos and has a small gallery of additional images available HERE.
Emergency responders worked swiftly to prevent the fire from spreading further, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
