Rolling Meadows firefighters were dispatched to 2905 W. Algonquin Road on Wednesday afternoon (April 24, 2019) after reports of smoke coming from the Egg’lectic Cafe. The incident escalated quickly when fire was discovered in the attic, prompting the alarm to be upgraded to a Code 4 and later a MABAS Box Alarm. Fortunately, the fire remained contained to the attic area, preventing further spread. Multiple fire departments responded to the scene, showcasing a coordinated effort among local emergency services. Rolling Meadows Fire Department units included Engines 15 and 16, Ambulances 15 and 16, Battalion 15, and department chiefs. Additional support came from Palatine Fire Department with Engine 84, Tower 84, Squad 85, Battalion 8, and two chief officers. Arlington Heights Fire Department sent Tower 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Ambulance 3, and a chief officer. Palatine Rural Fire Department provided Engine 36 and a chief officer, while Schaumburg Fire Department contributed Engine 52 and Squad 55. Elk Grove Township and Village, Mount Prospect, Buffalo Grove, and Rosemont also sent crews to assist.
