When it comes to commercial vehicles, in fact, at the beginning, there are not many choices for Chinese users. Older brands such as Dongfeng and Liberation have already been with China's economic development for decades. In recent years, with the introduction of foreign brands into China's commercial vehicle market, especially after 2004, there have been unfamiliar commercial vehicles around us. For Chinese users, this is indeed a good thing. After all, there are more choices. Last month, we noticed that the QUESTER, a heavyweight new model from the UD Trucks, was released in Thailand.

Speaking of UD, I have to talk about some developments in recent years. In 2007, UD became part of VOLVO and became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Volvo Group. In 2010, UD was officially renamed UD Trucks. Compared to our somewhat unfamiliar impression on Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturers, the VOLVO Group has a long history of many products in the commercial vehicle sector. Will the QUESTER models that have been injected into the new pedigree have the high quality, excellent performance, and high-end international atmosphere of the VOLVO Group's commercial vehicles? This time, the author carried out a limited analysis of the product itself from the difficult spy photos.

Responding to the national standard

Everyone knows that starting from July 1st, the National IV standard has already begun to be enforced. Although all transporters have the means to make old vehicles run, the overall trend of market development must be toward products that are more in line with standards and even exceed standards. . From the information charts left out this time, we can see that the QUESTER is achieved through the pump nozzle (integral fuel injector) injection technology, plus SCR selective catalytic reduction technology to achieve the national IV standard. Both of these technologies are mature technologies that have now been fully proven, and the combination of the two is extremely secure, both from the attainment of standards and the more important long-term operational stability. The author believes that QUESTER's technical framework in this regard should be more inclined to create a product that has a very stable performance and long-term compliance with the requirements of the Chinese market.

Powertrain

This time, the author didn't get the spy photos of the engines directly installed on the real car. It was an engine photo taken by the author from the production line. This photo of the engine taken from the mobile phone, after the author's multi-party verification proved its identity, should be from the VOLVO Group's GH11 series engine family. Talking about the Volvo Group's engine, those familiar with commercial vehicles should not be unfamiliar. Some of the VOLVO Group's heavyweight products that sell well in overseas markets, as well as the FMX series of transport vehicles that can be seen in China, are used in this engine. In this regard, the author also deliberately to verify the use of VOLVOFMX friends, from the feedback they give, this engine in the actual transport performance is very good.

Comfort

Although the core of the car is always the engine, it is often said that good horses can run long distances with good saddles, especially for commercial vehicles. In the beginning, when the author sorted out the acquired UDQUESTER data, he did not take it into consideration. However, in the end, he put it into this information, hoping to promote the attention of the purchaser to the working environment of transport personnel.

The space reserved for the driver inside the QUESTER can be said to fit most Chinese people's body types. The space in front of the driver's seat as shown in the figure is also more fully taken care of by the comfort level of the legs. Looking at the situation where a maximum of two people in the Chinese transportation market co-drive, the design of the right two seats will free up more space for better comfort, and will also make it easier to access the cab and sleeper positions. Compared with the layout of the seat in the front section of the seat, it is a sleeper seat with a length of about 2 meters.

In terms of direct-drive comfort, QUESTER's steering column design visually allows about 10 degrees of angle adjustment, as well as proper vertical adjustment, to take full advantage of the comfortable driving of different height, fat and thin drivers.
