This message comes from Eric Haak, who shared some photos taken early this morning during the 2-11 alarm at 9650 S. Ewing Ave. It appears there was a gas explosion at the location. There were two ambulance transports, with one person reported in extremely critical condition. The lighting wasn't ideal for capturing clear shots of the ladder truck, but the images still give a pretty good sense of what the scene looked like.
Most of the fire activity was concentrated in the back of the building. The ladder truck was initially positioned in an alley and set up in a vacant lot on the C/D corner. Later, they moved the ladder truck to the front of the structure and eventually had to burn off part of the roof. There's also a short video clip showing the setup process for Squad 5A.
Attached are several photos taken by Eric Haak that capture different moments of the incident. The first image shows flames erupting from the house fire in Chicago. Another shot gives a closer look at the firefighters working with a hose line to control the blaze. Additional photos highlight the presence of Squad 5A, a Rosenbauer Commander model, which played a crucial role in managing the situation. Some of these images focus on the technical aspects of firefighting equipment, while others provide broader views of the operation.
The final picture offers a wider perspective of the entire scene involving Squad 5A, giving a comprehensive view of how the firefighters tackled the challenging situation. These visuals are not only informative but also serve as a testament to the dedication and skill of the Chicago Fire Department in handling emergencies like this one.
