On Sunday, March 15th, I was in Gary, Indiana. Even though I didn’t catch the main event, the day turned out to be pretty interesting, as it often is in this city. Around 12:45 PM, companies were dispatched to a residential fire on the 2400 block of Colfax. I was on the other side of town and missed the exact address, so by the time I arrived, the fire was mostly under control. It turned out to be the same vacant house that had been burned a few weeks earlier.
Truck 2 broke down while en route and had to be replaced with Truck 1 from the opposite side of town. With decent lighting, I managed to take a few photos of the responding units. Squad 2 is now using the Chevy 3500 shown in the pictures, and they had three crew members inside the truck during the response.

About 2:00 PM, another incident occurred out in Miller, which is on the far east side of town. A brush fire broke out on a hill behind an apartment complex. Engine 7 had to position itself at the base of the hill to feed a line over a retention wall in order to reach the fire. While nothing dramatic happened, it was still a meaningful response.
