According to the news, water treatment specialist Evoqua Water Technologies has been selected as the Royal Australian Navy's ANZAC-class frigate design and delivery system to prevent marine life from growing in seawater cooling systems.
Evoqua will deliver the Chloropac system, which will be installed by the contractor BAE Systems Australia Ltd. to eight ANZAC class frigates over the next six years.
Chloropac seawater electrolysis systems prevent marine biofouling to ensure energy efficiency and long-term operation. These systems use a diluted, dilute sodium hypochlorite safety scheme to inject natural seawater directly into the seawater cooling cycle and seawater tank.
To date, more than 2,500 Chloropac systems have been installed worldwide. Evoqua has a good working relationship with the Australian, US and British navies.
It is reported that Evoqua's processing systems and services will help ensure the quality and quantity of water, comply with regulatory and environmental requirements, and increase efficiency.
