Around 1:47 AM, emergency responders from the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire District were dispatched to the 300 block of Goshawk Lane in unincorporated Deerfield following reports of a structure fire. While they were en route, the Regional Emergency Dispatch Center (RED Center) informed them that police officers already on the scene confirmed it was a fully involved structure. Upon arrival, firefighters found themselves facing a raging fire at a two-story, multi-unit townhome complex, with flames shooting out of the roof. They quickly deployed a hose line for firefighting efforts and ensured the building was clear of occupants. The fire was confined to the unit where it originated.
Fortunately, the adjacent building only sustained minimal damage. A Mutual Aid Box alarm was triggered to bring in additional personnel and fire investigators. The exact cause and cost of the fire remain under investigation.
The Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District received invaluable assistance from fellow firefighters from Deerfield, Buffalo Grove, Long Grove, Wheeling, Northbrook, Arlington Heights, Prospect Heights, Highland Park, Countryside, Glencoe, and Northfield, as well as the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the RED Center. It's heartening to see such a strong show of support and cooperation during emergencies like this.
