The Lake Villa Fire District has recently acquired two new ambulances. These are Type III units manufactured in 2011 by Osage, built on Ford E-450 chassis. According to Jeff Rudolph, who provided the information, neither of the new units has been assigned a number yet, and they are identical in appearance.
It seems that Ambulance 243, which was a 2005 model, has been retired. Ambulance 242 was renumbered to 244, and Ambulance 244 became 245. The whereabouts of the old Ambulance 241 remain unclear. The two brand-new units will now be assigned as Ambulances 241 and 242.
As reported earlier, these new ambulances have been painted red, marking a significant change from the current fleet, which is painted in blue and white. The blue and white color scheme was originally adopted when the Lake Villa Rescue Squad purchased their fleet. This shift to red is notable and may signal a new identity for the department's emergency response vehicles.
Below is a photo of one of the new ambulances, which will be assigned to Ambulance 242. It’s the first red ambulance to ever be used by the Lake Villa Fire Department. The unit was delivered in 2011 and represents an upgrade to the existing fleet.
Another image shows what appears to be the previous ambulance assigned to Station 2, which is now being reassigned to a different location. The new unit will take its place, replacing the 2010 Osage ambulance currently stationed at Ambulance 242.
This update reflects ongoing efforts by the Lake Villa Fire District to modernize and improve their emergency medical services. With the arrival of these new ambulances, the department is better equipped to serve the community with up-to-date technology and improved safety features.
