Application:
The TR-OTR-1901 is based on the coulometric sensor method and is ideal for testing oxygen transmission rate (OTR) of flexible films, sheets, and packages. It can test three samples simultaneously with independent results.

Plastic films, aluminum foil, aluminized films, plastic composite films, paper-plastic composite films, coextruded films, aluminum foil composite films, and more.

Principle
Film:
The specimen is clamped between the upper and lower chamber. The upper chamber is purged with an oxygen stream, while the lower chamber is purged with nitrogen. Due to the oxygen concentration gradient across the specimen, oxygen molecules permeate through the material into the nitrogen side. These oxygen molecules are carried to the coulometric sensor, which generates a proportional signal. This allows calculation of the oxygen transmission rate and permeability coefficient.
Package:
The package is mounted on the lower chamber. The outside of the package is exposed to air or pure oxygen, while the inside is purged with nitrogen. Oxygen permeates through the package wall into the interior. These molecules are then carried to the coulometric sensor, generating a proportional signal used to calculate the oxygen transmission rate.
