Recently, a groundbreaking type of micro-organisms has been deployed in six wells at the Shuanghe Oil Field within the Henan Oilfield to enhance oil extraction. This innovative technology has brought new life to the Shuanghe Oil Field, which has long been affected by high water cut. Over the past three months, these oil wells have shown a remarkable increase in oil production, demonstrating the effectiveness of this microbial approach.
Shuanghe Oil Mine has been in operation for over 20 years, and now it is entering its middle to late development stage. As a result, many wells have experienced declining productivity, with an increasing number of low-yield and inefficient wells. Starting from this year, the mine has actively conducted on-site trials of microbial biomass extraction and oil recovery technologies. Specific microbial strains were carefully selected, and pilot tests were carried out one after another on six oil wells, injecting the targeted microbes into each.
Microbial PIP (Pilot Injection Process) technology enhances oil recovery by introducing or stimulating microorganisms that can thrive in reservoir conditions. It is considered a promising third-generation method for oil recovery, following water flooding, chemical flooding, and polymer flooding. Field tests have confirmed that this technique not only improves oil output but also helps maintain well performance. By metabolizing substances that cause oil thickening and wax buildup, the microbes reduce blockages caused by debris in rock pores. They also degrade and absorb paraffin, making crude oil more fluid and easier to extract.
This technology has proven to be highly effective in boosting crude oil production and is particularly suitable for low-permeability oil fields. Its potential applications are vast, offering a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution to enhance oil recovery in mature fields.
