From Tim Olk: Subject: Fire at the Alley Garage near 63rd and Francisco, January 10th, 2016 --- I just witnessed something truly shocking last night. Around 8 PM, I was driving by the alley off Francisco Street near 63rd when I noticed thick smoke billowing from what looked like an abandoned garage. At first, I thought it might have been some sort of industrial accident or maybe even a controlled burn that got out of hand. But as I pulled over to get a closer look, it became clear that this was no ordinary situation—this thing was fully engulfed in flames. Here’s how it went down: The fire spread so quickly that within minutes, the entire structure was ablaze. The heat was intense, even from where I was parked. People nearby were running around, trying to figure out what to do. Some called 911, while others just stood there in disbelief. It wasn’t long before the fire trucks arrived, but by then, the damage was already done. I managed to snap a few photos with my phone before moving further away for safety reasons. You can see them attached below. These images don’t do justice to the sheer chaos and destruction though. Flames were shooting high into the sky, and the roar of the fire was deafening. By the time the firefighters started working on it, the whole area was filled with emergency lights reflecting off the black clouds of smoke. This incident really hit home for me because just last week, I passed through this same alley and everything seemed fine. Now, it’s just a charred shell of what it once was. I hope whoever owned it had insurance—or better yet, that they avoided such a disaster altogether. Anyway, here are the pictures I took. Take a look and let me know if you’ve ever seen anything like this before. Best, Tim --- [Attached Images: Four photos showing different angles of the burning garage, all credited to Tim Olk.] Caption for each image: "Fire tearing through the alley garage late Monday evening." --- P.S. If anyone knows more about this incident or recognizes the property owner, feel free to reach out. It’s always good to help neighbors recover from situations like these.
