On Monday afternoon, May 30, 2016, firefighters from Glenview responded to a serious fire at 526 Woodland Drive. The scene was immediately marked by heavy black smoke pouring from the structure, prompting a quick response from multiple fire companies. As units arrived, the alarm was upgraded to a Code 4, indicating a working fire. Firefighters from Northfield, Wilmette, Morton Grove, and Skokie also rushed to the scene to assist.
The blaze started in a bedroom and quickly spread to part of the attic, but crews managed to contain the fire before it could cause more widespread damage. Despite this, the interior of the home suffered significant smoke damage, affecting multiple rooms and areas of the house.
Several fire engines were dispatched, including an E-ONE e-MAX unit and a Pierce Arrow XT model, both arriving on scene to help combat the flames. After the fire was under control, firefighters worked to repack their hoses and prepare for the next call.
