On Sunday morning, August 14th, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District (FPD) responded to a fire at 840 Inverrary Lane. Upon arrival, the first responding unit was met by the homeowner, who had already evacuated the split-level home and reported visible flames on the lower level. Inside, firefighters encountered severe hoarder conditions, which made navigation difficult. As they moved downstairs, they discovered a ruptured water line connected to the washing machine, which was helping to slow the spread of the fire.
The incident was upgraded to a Code 4 working fire, prompting additional support from nearby departments including Buffalo Grove, Prospect Heights, Lake Zurich, and Wheeling. Chief officers from Deerfield and Countryside also arrived on scene. A Northbrook ambulance was later dispatched to transport the homeowner for medical evaluation.
Numerous firefighters were seen working at the scene, with some venting windows and others preparing hose lines. The fire was eventually brought under control, and crews remained on site for overhaul operations. Several photos captured the efforts of the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD, including Deputy Chief Scott Kneesley and Lieutenant Paul Schebel, as well as the fire engine and the ongoing response.
