With the rapid growth of the plastics machinery industry, many companies that previously focused on machine tools and military equipment have started to shift their production toward plastic machinery. In addition, the swift expansion of emerging individual presses and collective enterprises is expected to intensify competition in the general press market over the next few years.
Industry experts predict that the major consumer markets for China's presses will follow specific trends. Injection molding machines are expected to see increased demand in the southern regions and gradually expand northward. The market for plastic film machines will mainly be concentrated in water-scarce provinces such as Shandong and Hebei, while calendering machines will be more prevalent in Foshan, Guangdong, where the number of presses is growing rapidly.
From a demand perspective, it is anticipated that by 2010, the annual domestic demand for presses will rise from the current 75,000 units to 100,000 units. Among these, injection molding machines will account for approximately 35%, extrusion machines for around 25%, hollow molding machines for about 5%, and other types of molding machines for the remaining 35%. Although the number of Sino-foreign joint ventures in the industry remains relatively small, they possess strong competitive advantages. Currently, these joint ventures contribute more than 30% to the total output value of the sector. Within the top 10 companies in the press industry, five to six are Sino-foreign joint ventures, highlighting their significant market presence and influence.
