New generation of Cognex CHECKER sensors do not require PLC

The latest addition to this family is the Checkerâ„¢ 101E, the first sensor of its kind to deliver unmatched stability and precision in visual detection of complete components during the production process. Building on the success of the Checker 101, the 101E enhances performance with improved usability and advanced functionality. One of the key features of the Checker 101E is its ability to directly receive encoder signals, eliminating the need for a PLC when tracking and rejecting components on variable-speed production lines. This significantly reduces system complexity and cost. "The Checker 101 sensor revolutionizes how customers detect and analyze components, simplifying the process by removing the need for complex wiring, mounting, ladder logic programming, and precise component handling typically required with multiple photo sensors," said Colin Phillips, Vice President and Sensor Specialist at Cognex. The Checker 101E streamlines component tracking by using an automatic shift register, unlike traditional PLCs that require manual programming. This allows up to 4,000 components to be accurately detected between the sensing and rejection points. With the ability to process over 500 images per second, the Checker supports faster production speeds while maintaining high accuracy. In addition to detecting full components, the Checker can also be used for tracking and analyzing networks, helping to optimize and control the production process more effectively. Its installation is straightforward, making it easy to deploy on the factory floor without requiring extensive setup or technical expertise.
