With the rapid growth of the plastics machinery industry, many companies that previously focused on machine tool production and military equipment have now shifted their attention to manufacturing plastic machinery. This trend, combined with the swift expansion of emerging individual presses and collective enterprises, is expected to significantly intensify competition in the general press market in the coming years.
Industry experts predict that China's major press markets will experience several key trends. Injection molding machines are expected to see a surge in demand in the southern regions and will gradually expand northward. The plastic film machine market will remain concentrated in water-scarce provinces like Shandong and Hebei, while calender machines will continue to be popular in Foshan, Guangdong, where the number of presses is growing rapidly.
Looking at the overall demand for presses, it is projected that by 2010, the annual domestic demand will rise from the current 75,000 units to 100,000 units. Among these, injection molding machines will account for approximately 35%, extrusion machines for around 25%, blow molding machines for about 5%, and other types of presses for the remaining 35%. Although Sino-foreign joint ventures represent only a small portion of the industry, they possess strong competitive advantages. Currently, these joint ventures contribute more than 30% to the total output value of the sector. In fact, among the top 10 companies in the press industry, five to six are Sino-foreign joint ventures, highlighting their significant influence in the market.
