The Berwyn Fire Department responded to a house fire last night. Josh Boyajian shared some photos and a quick account of what happened. A fire broke out at 3824 Oak Park Avenue around midnight. Josh captured a few images after the flames had mostly been extinguished. Upon arrival, the call was upgraded to a "Mabas" box, which means it was classified as a more serious incident. A police officer who arrived first on the scene managed to rescue someone from the burning building. He kicked in the door and found a victim who had been overcome by smoke. Fortunately, the person was conscious and was taken to safety. The fire caused significant damage to the structure, but no one else was reported injured. Local residents were seen watching from a safe distance, clearly shaken by the event. It’s a reminder of how quickly things can turn dangerous, and how vital it is for emergency responders to act swiftly. Here are the photos that Josh took: ![Berwyn house fire 12-12-11](#) ![Berwyn house fire 12-12-11](#) ![Berwyn house fire 12-12-11](#) ![Berwyn house fire 12-12-11](#) It's always unsettling to see such events unfold, and we're grateful to the firefighters and officers who worked through the night to contain the blaze and save lives.
