According to foreign media reports, the Mexican National Tire Dealers Association believes that Mexico imports more than one million tires each year, plus its domestic tire capacity, the Mexican tire market is saturated.

According to the association’s research, this is mainly due to the Fox government’s decision to import tires from the United States, and the previous government had maintained the implementation of the resolution despite knowing that the investment in tire production was already excessive.

However, Mexico's current tire market situation is very different from that of 10 years ago. Ten years ago, Mexican domestically produced tires could only meet the market demand of 50%, but they can now meet 99% of the domestic market. The association said that it is currently coordinating with the Mexican Ministry of Economy and requested that it no longer be renewed after the import resolution expires in 2016.
